IS SRP PIPE INFRAPIPE – NO!

SRP is Steel-Reinforced Pipe. Neither INFRAPIPE nor PKS supply SRP. SRP is a legacy technology which has been largely overtaken in the rest of the world. Where INFRAPIPE and PKS use a polypropylene core tube to create buckling strength in the pipe, SRP uses a thin steel profile similar to that seen in suspended ceilings.

Why is SRP in the market? P&F Global market the Euroflo brand which is SRP. Their pipes that are DN1000 and below are made of twinwall corrugated pipe – which is certified which gives the market the impression that the larger pipes are also certified.

This gives the impression that the pipe is larger than it is. INFRAPIPE and PKS follow AS/NZS5065 and market their pipe based on its ID which gives a true reflection of its hydraulic capacity.

SRP has two weaknesses compared to INFRAPIPE and PKS profile pipe:

SRP pipe can easily delaminate because of the tension in the metal and the thinner layer of polyethylene which contains it.

SRP pipe does not recover from deformation (this is why it fails AS/NZS5065). Once bent, the metal remains bent. In the picture below left, see which pipe is not SRP:
