This turret plays a vital role in Auckland Airport’s new drainage system, contributing significantly to stormwater management and operational efficiency, especially during increasingly frequent adverse weather conditions nationwide.
Connections
Connections can be placed at any height and any angle to provide the optimum hydraulic efficiency and best access to those connections. As connections are double extrusion welded to the cylinder of the structure, there is no opportunity for chemical or biological egress or infiltration – the connection penetrations are secure for the life of the asset.
If required, connection angles and heights or riser heights can be modified in the factory after a site survey and the finalized product shipped the next day.
Pumps, sensors and other equipment
Flat HDPE sheet can be welded in any size in any location in the structure if a flat surface is needed for equipment or its controls or power supply. This avoids the penetrations which can lead to decay in other materials and gives the designer complete freedom to create the optimum layout of the service structure.
Loadbearing and buoyancy
Manholes are typically supplied with a concrete lid, inside of which sits a DN600 ductile iron cover with internal safety grille. The lid sits on a concrete loadring which transmits the loading on the lid onto the cover and not onto the riser of the tank. Between the riser and the lid there is a hydrophilic seal.

Buoyancy is addressed by the use of a flange at the base, which for very high water tables can be supplemented with anchors or weight like tanks.
